2026 WPUPC Information

Our next Western Pennsylvania Undergraduate Psychology Conference will be hosted by Gannon University, Erie, PA, on April 11, 2026. Please contact Bradlee Gamblin (gamblin001@gannon.edu) with any questions or more details.

This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Lee M. Gilman, Ph.D. (they/them), assistant professor of behavioral neuroscience in Kent State University’s Department of Psychological Sciences.

Dr. Gilman’s research investigates how stress and dietary choices intersect, exploring how salty and processed foods affect coping behaviors and physical health. Their work asks central questions about how eating patterns impact the brain’s and body’s ability to respond to stressors. Dr. Gilman is committed to increasing transparency about biomedical research and graduate school pathways for undergraduates while cultivating curiosity and a deeper understanding of neuroscience. They are continually learning and actively advocating for inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility in neuroscience research and STEAM fields more broadly.

Brief History

The first Western Pennsylvania Undergraduate Psychological Conference (WPUPC) was held at Alliance College in 1973 and was comprised of six institutions. Since that first meeting, we have grown to include 12 member institutions. More importantly, thousands of students have presented at WPUPC before graduating and making an impact on their chosen field.
